Mahalo nui to everyone who voted in our recent Board Elections 2020. The ACLU of Hawaiʻi welcomes four board members as they begin their volunteer three year term starting January 1, 2021 and concluding on December 31, 2023. We congratulate and thank them for their commitment of service to Hawaiʻi and the ACLU.
They join the rest of The Board of Directors, which act as one body and provides legal and ethical stewardship for the short and long term stability and vitality of ACLU programs, finances and overall organizational strength. The Board is crucial in setting policy and direction. A working Board is composed of members from communities statewide and with various backgrounds.
Nominations are received year-round and the Governance Committee evaluates candidates bearing in mind the needs of the organization and wider community. The affiliate Equity Officer ensures that all reasonable measures are pursued to identify a diverse field of nominees. A proposed slate of prospects is then brought to the Board for action.
ACLU members can vote in board elections. To become a “card carrying member” of the ACLU, please visit aclu.org/join.
Notice: Due to heightened security we have chosen to take down any identifiable information related to our staff and Board of Directors. Although a temporary change, we felt that this was an appropriate measure to ensure the continued safety of our staff and Board during this political transition. In the near future we will update this post with the names and positions of our Board. Mahalo for your understanding and support.
